I have a running 1984 5.0 HO engine. Its perfectly functional, to include a new rear seal cause it saw a leak. The electric choke is probably DOA cause its hard to start, but once it warms up, its fine... I had a buddy "GIFT" me a Chevy 350 (trade for a Tremec 6 Speed i didn't want to use)with about 365hp, so a swap will happen. No, I aint worried about keeping numbers matching, as I plan to GIVE the car to my first grandchild when they graduate high school. What would be an average "in good running condition" price for an engine like that? It'll come with a complete engine, minus the power steering, alternator and A/C. I don't need to make a ton, but don't wanna throw it away.. Some HONEST estimates would be appreicated

Value? Varies widely, depending on who you ask.

For me it's not even worth scrap value. By the time I drove to get it, loaded it, and waited in line at the scrap yard it already wouldn't be worth my time.

 

I scrapped one once. That was 20 years ago and probably not the best decision. More recently (like over 10 years ago now, lol) I listed one on CL for 60 bucks, in running condition. With starter, alt and distributor too. Smoked at higher rpm. Some nice guy came and was happy as could be to get it for $60, he was going to put in his '69 C10.
