whats the difference between FWD and RWD rims, wheels

ok i went to the local tire shop, and i was checking out there rims, they had decent prices and stuff, but all the wheels that caught my eye were FWD and all the RWD wheels looked like they belonged on a pickup. is there a difference?

you'll know when you try to put those FWDs on the rear wheels!!!....he he he!!! :D

the front wheel drives have a different offset so they can fit over the spindals without the front wheels sticking out, that is why some stock camaro rims, like the 16" ones, have designated front and rear pairs. :lala: :lala: :lala: :lala: :lala: :lala: :lala: :lala: :lala: :lala:

Right... FWD wheels usually have the surface where they mount to the car almost all the way out to the outside of the wheel, to accomodate the width of the CV joints and axles and all that; RWD wheels for older cars have their hub more near the center of the wheel. Most modern RWD cars are being made such that the wheels are more like FWD ones; 4th gen F-body is no exception. Most zero-offset wheels these days are sold to go on pickups which is why they look like that.
