Computer controls timing?
Computer controls timing?
Here's my problem. At idle and light cruise I get an occasional stumble or like a buck. Under power it's fine. Well I checked the timing tonight after cruising around, and it was at 36 degrees, which is close to or probably full advance. I disconnected the EST wire and it's at 10 degrees, plugged the wire back in and it went to around 5. What would or could cause it to lock in full timing like that? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Was the car still running when you un-plugged/ plugged the EST wire back in? Before you plug the connector back in, you have to shut the car off if you want the computer to regain timing control.
Just something I found out. Was your advance at 36 deg at idle?

It was still running. I had set it all earlier in the day, drove down the road to several places, ya know visiting family ect. When I got back home and before I shut it off I whipped out the timing light. That's when it read 36 at idle. Is there a seperate EST module that controls the timing or is it all done by the computer? Thanks
