Too much oil
My dad added a little to much engine oil into my car while I was doing the brakes and didn't tell me until now 
Recently my car has let off a puff of smoke at start up when it didn't use to. Would this have anything to do with the oil? Next time I will have to keep a better eye on him. I was wondering why he was under the hood so long

Really hard to say...most likely it's not related...unless he went hodwild and dumped an extra gallon or two in...
These are one of the things you need to "file in memory" for when he get's on your case about not doing something correctly...always ood to have a backup plan
You problem of the "puff" is most likely valve stem seals.
