How does this cam sound and what carb would be good???
Here is the cam specs:
CAM INT .310, LIFT EXH .325, VALVE INT .465, LIFT EXH .488, LOBE INT 107,
SAE DURATION= 298 INT, 304 EXH, .050 DURATION= 224 INT, 234 EXH
The cam is in a 70's 350 w/ 4-bolt mains and is punched 30 over.
The engine is going into a 86 camaro z-28 w/ a 3.73 posi and 5 speed. How does the cam sound for this setup? I am using the edelbrock rpm air gap intake as well. Also I was thinking with going with a edelbrock 750 cfm carb? How does this sound? any suggestions? any input would be great..
Also someone told me there would not be enough vaccum for the power brakes? Is this true? if so what can i do tho fix this if it will be a problem?
thanks a lot,
Dan

sounds good although you will only need a 650 cfm carb at best. I have basically the same cam and the power brakes work just fine. That isn't a very radical cam so you won't have any problems.

i've installed a similar cam to that in a 5 speed 86 camaro and it was great with the exception of the knock i caused from over revving it. wasn't so bad though, wasn't my car. the cam will work ok since you have a stick and won't put much load on it at idle. your only weak point will be the cylinder head flow. the cam i used in that was also the same i used in my blazer which is .488 valve lift and 234 @ .050. duration. neither had an issue from the power brakes. the blazer would pull 15 inches of vacuum at a 900rpm idle in park.
