that is just filter and top, you should still have your base with all of you fittings. if not you'll wanna do some valve cover breathers. lIke $5 from summit

it is not just the filter and top. You can get the COMPLETE X-STREAM AIR FLOW ASSEMBILES with a 5 1/8 incn neck and varios filter hights, for like $120

the wires on the bottom are for the intake air temp sensor. when i put an open element filter on mine i just drilled a hole in the bottom and put the sensor in the new one. you could leave it hang or unplug and forget about it but i dontknow if it will throw a code or not. better just to put it on the new filter pan. the problem with the open filter top is if u have the basic hood it will sit right on that filter rendering it useless. i just put a chrome cover on mine.

oh yea one more thing. be prepared to have a lot of under hood noise when you put that bad boy on there. the intake noise on mine is almost as loud as my exhaust.

hay vincent, what hight filter did you get, on what kind of hood. I have a stock hood any idea on hight size. I will prod not get the top peice because it would rest on the hood (good thinking). do you have and "snorkle" system bring cold air to the filter.

even with the top e-stream lid and your stock hood, you will still get more air flow than going without it. The stock hood may not provide as much air going into the top of the lid as a cowl hood would, but you would still get some. Think about it, the hood doesn't rest directly on top of the air cleaner. If you want even more air flow with the stock hood you can take the rear seal off, this will help to expel the hot air.

As far as the attachments you have on your stock air cleaner. Just pull the sensor out of the aircleaner base, leave it pluged in and set in a relativly cool part of the engine. Plug the vacume line at the TBI, it's useless now. For the valve cover breather pull the plastic filter off the stock unit plug it back into the pipe and leave it hang. Everything will still function properly by doing the above but of course it won't look pretty. If you want a tighty apearance than fit the temp sensor to the bottom of your new unit and get a breather for the valve cover.

There is a whole article on this subject on this site. Look for the ultimate TBI mods 1-3. Article 1 covers Aircleaners.
