Power steering pressure hose question

I was preplacing the pressure for hose my power steering today and for the life of me I could not get the fitting that goes into the power steering box to screw in all the way. Is this right? Unfortunately I forget if the original was flush with the box or not. There seems to be like 1/8-2/8 of an inch of thread still showing. I'm afraid if I try tightening it, it'll just strip the threads.

If I remember correctly, they don't screw in all the way. As long as it doesn't leak, you should be fine.
