Got the Shakes, Any ideas??????

Hi guys,
Got a really odd one for ya. Engine has a nasty vibration at 1300, 2000 and 4000 rpm.
Engine is new, as are motor mounts. Does it under load, off load, driving, or just sitting in driveway.
This is driving me nuts. Am going to remove fan belt at lunch to see if it is an accessory, if not, it is either in the engine, or possibly the torque converter.

Cheers

Richard

I would pull every plug wire and check their condition. I had a simila problem and had a burnt wire.

I had that same problem after the fool who owned the car before me threw 2 rods at 80 mph and locked the motor, aparently it tore the vanes off the torque converter (or at least one). after I replaced the unit the vibration is gone.

try unbolting the torque converter from the engine and see if the vibration is still there ?

yes = motor
no = torque converter or tranny
