Chris,

That's a stout little axle. Built correctly, it makes the Dana 60 and Ford 9" rear ends go crying to mommy.

If you don't find any good web links, I may have a few old magazine articles on building th erear end. Lemme know - my email link is at the top of the page.

general info can be found in most any manuals, i ithnk all 12 bolt gears are the same, some ring gears require a shim and will be noted as needing it, 4:56 and up need a notched pin, same as 7.5 10 bolts. it's been a while since i built one, 1990 i think. the car lifted both front wheels and carried then 10' or so down track so even a dumbass like me can build one and make it last. we did have a problem keeping spider gears in it ,a spool fixed all that.

Found a good chevelle web site link......these rear ends are pretty cool
Chris

Sorry....its going into the Grand Prix. The rearend is a direct bolt in (well sort of) for my G body Prix, I'm pretty sure it FAR from a direct bolt in for the turd. The little 7.5 inch rear just exploded under the 550ish ft/lb of torque that BB caddy motor pounds out at 2,000 rpms Going to install a spool in the 12 bolt for good measure, should hold up fine against the caddy...I hope. Vader...does it say anything in those mag articles about installing 3 series gears in a 2 series carrier? I'm assuming I just buy richmonds for 12 bolt passenger...the other gears they sell say " for 3.08 to 3.73" or "4.11 and up". So I guess the gears with no * or symbols next to it is what I want??
