I haven't got one on my ZZ4 and was wondering if this was a bad thing? Are they expensive and easy to fit?

I dont think its a mandatory thing, havent had one on my TA for quite some time now. It will prevent stuff from getting to the converter and flexplate for the most part though, like no rocks bouncing off parts moving at high RPM's, no water on the hot converter in the rain, stuff like that.

Oh yea, as for price it shouldnt be much. Its just a simple piece of plastic. Theres a metal one available, but its harder to put on than the plastic one, and its heavier. I think we paid around $30 for the metal one.

Keeps the dirt and crap off the flywheel. It's also nice if you work on the car underneath while its running. I would get one.

Not to mention.....it also keeps dirt from getting around the front pump seal. Once that seal starts leaking, time to pull the trans. I would never run without one. Of course I live in PHX and we dont get any rain to keep that damn dirt down.

One day when backing out of my spot at work I drove over some of that saran wrap, packaging plastic stuff (that they wrap around skids of boxes to keep the stuff from moving). It had blown out of the trash bin and as soon as the teeth on the exposed flywheel caught it it was sucked into and around the torque converter. It stalled the engine immediately. I spent about two hours under the car swearing my *** off as I cut 4 feet of tightly wound saran wrap from the converter.

A plastic bag on the road could just as easily get sucked in and then proceed to rip your seal apart.
