I think I'm going to be rebuilding my engine and transmission instead of swapping them with others. What parts would you suggest for the transmission? I'm guessing a trans go reprogramming kit, not sure what else. What parts would you suggest for the engine rebuild (it's currently a rebuild 84 305)? Suggestions for heads, cam, pistons, etc. would be extremely helpful. I'm not sure as to what gears I have, I'm assuming 3.23 (although it seems that when it was working and I went 70 in drive it went higher w/ rpms than 3,230). I'm somewhat on a budget, so suggestions which include expensive top of the line parts aren't going to help me much. 250hp to 300hp is my target for now. If I can go higher and it costs relatively the same as to get it in the range I want, that would be even better. Any suggestions about this rebuild are appreciated (other than ones telling me to get a 350 as opposed to rebuildling my engine...I don't exactly have money to buy a 350 that's not going to require a rebuild to swap into the car).
