Alarm shock sensor question...

I recently had a shop install a Clifford Concept 200 alarm. And upon fixing some of the things they screwed up, i realized the attached the shock sensor to a wiring harness near the firewall. Shouldn't the shock sensor be installed directly to something firm? such as the firewall etc. so that it can better to its job a detecting vibrations? I don't think it can do it too well where its at now..

usually most shops will zip tie the sensor to the steering column. i don't think that attaching it on a wire harness will be effective, because wiring harnesses have play in them
