Interceptor or GTA?

I have the option of purchasing a 82 Camaro with the Police Interceptor Engine, or a Trans Am with the 350 TPI GTA Package...which would you think is better?!

Looking for feedback,

NJ3,

Personally, I would base my decision on the condition of the car, and not so much just the engine. However, all else being equal, I'm thinking the TPI would be a better choice overall. That "Police Interceptor" engine is likely a 305 with a slightly better cam profile and better exhaust than the standard carbureted V-8. You already get those with the 350 TPI.

I think the police intercepter is a 350, because my 82 crossfire z-28 (LU5)has the same cam as the 350 police interceptor. 194/203 @ .050 duration
.390/.410 lift...

the 82 police car camaro used the LG4 engine with the crossfire engine available as an option for them. police interceptor by the way was ford's terminlogy, not chevy. the police package for the 82 camaro was nothing special and was ordered in fleet option, but that's about it. it's no faster, doesn't stop any better, and doesn't handle any better than the civilian model.

I would go with the GTA, it has a 350, TPI, and better looks. Now if it was a 92 b4c, I would be all over it.
