I had to patch my birds heater hose the 5/8 with a 3/4 for a day a few weeks back. When I did this a small amount of antifreeze made its way into the passenger side floor. I got the correct 5/8 hose and replaced it (this was an emergency patch job) the leak on the floor cleared up. So I'm thinking that coolant made its way past the clamp on the hose and that's why coolant leaked onto the floor because none has leaked since, but when I use the heater now the windows get fogged up and there is a slight antifreeze smell. What do you think, is there just a residual antifreeze smell or is the heater core leaking? I see no indication of a leak now just a smell.
Another question I have is, is there any advantage in bypassing the 3/4in heater hose from the water pump and routing it to the radiator? I had to do this because my new radiator has the heater hose fitting and the patch I made to plug this originally wouldn't have passed a tech inspection at the track. Picky SOBs.
