Transmission Fluid

I had a quick question for ya'll. I was talking to my dad last night about taking my friend's car to Dallas to have it checked out, flushed, and plug up some exhaust leaks. My dad told me that I could drain out the oil and put transmission fluid in the engine. Then run the engine just till it got hot. He said the transmission fluid works as a detergent. I'm not sure if he was making it up b/c he was drunk or whatnot, but I have faith in him b/c he knows a WHOLE lot more than I may ever know. I started asking around and I found out I could drain out a quart of oil from the engine and put a quart of diesel in the engine in place of the quart of oil. Then I'm supposed to let the engine run for about 30mins and the diesel will break down all the gunk in the engine. Which one of these ways is safer? Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you

only time Ive heard having tranny fluid in a crankcase was to free a stuck engine. It worked too but I dont know about letting it get hot. Im just a rookie but it seems like it wouldnt be able to hold up. Could be wrong but im sure youll get some other opinions.

Don't fill your engine completely with transmission fluid. If you want to clean it out just drain a quart of oil and replace it with transmission fluid. Running that for the last hundred miles or so before your next oil change will get rid of a lot of buildup. Make sure you've got a good oil filter on there.
