I would just leave it like that, would think your truck holds 5 quarts, and 5 liters is just a tiny bit more. Was your truck parked on a level surface? Just a little off level will cause a low or high reading.

5 quarts equals 5.28 liters, so the 0.28 is over 8 ounces.

8 ounces on the concrete floor is a big puddle...

If the engine leaks/eats some oil, just wait until your a liter low and add one.

Jeff,

There is no splash oiling in the SBC engine. As long as the pump pickup is placed correctly, the slight difference in oil level will not affect anything. It sounds like you oil level is still in teh safe operating range as marked on the dipstick, so you should be safe.

Incidentally, five litres should have slightly overfilled the sump, since that is the equivalent of five quarts, nine ounces. You should actually be a quarter-quart too full, which isn't a problem either.

You probably don't want to contaminate the synthetic with mineral oil - especially since it's just been changed.

ya that's the new engine.. I had regular 10w30 .. I did 200km's changed it with regular and did another 900kms and now I put the mobil 1 .. as per the engine builder.. the cam had already been broken in before the rebuild... it had about 2500km's on it..

anyhow I ended up picking up another 1 litre of mobil 1 to top it off. reason it takes more than 5 is probably because of the rad taking some of it..
