Timing gear question

Hey guys, I am rebuilding a 305, eliminating all the emissions and computor. I bought a performance package from Eldebrock, performer intake non erg, 600cfm carb, and cam, duration @.050 204/214, lift at valve .420/.442. Will also be installing a HEI vac advance dist. My question, when installing my timing gears/chain should I install the crank sprocket at 0 or A or R? This is going to be a cruiser with a low end power band, idle to 5000 rpm. Thanks for bein' here.

Not sure about the question to the cam but I noticed you left out the torque convertler lockup when mentioning how you're going about getting rid of the computer. The computer controls this function that allows for the overdrive to function correclty (in the 700r4 tranny.) They make kits that can retain this function after you take out the computer though, I think JEG'S sells them.

Put it in at 0° unless you already know from prior experience with that specific cam that in your combination it needs adjustment. Your setup doesn't sound like it's anything too different from what it was designed for so put it in straight up.
