My dipstick housing came out of the engine when I went to check the oil. I would like to know how far does the dipstick needs to be pushed back in. My only goes in about an inch or two. Still very loose.

 

they usually have a little base of some sort about 2 1/2 inches down that it has to hit, that way you know your in all the way, you have to push really hard, and it will kind of click in there.. you will know when its in all the way.
