Tune up!

Tune up!

when i got the car it had 120.000 miles on it. now its bearing down on 130... i changed the pcv valve spark plusgs airfilter cleaned the carb... but im thinking of doing another one this week.

wires, plugs, air filter, feul filter, pcv valve... besiedes engine oil what else goes in a tune up that you can think of... a normal one atleast.

tranny fluid... volts/ohm/amps check of sensors and such, wanna make sure everything is running electricly correct, atleast I do.

Greg,

In addition to adjusting the timing, high idle cam, choke pull-off, curb idle, checking the TPS on your carb, adjusting the mixture control solenoid, you should stick to the factory service schedule:

It's in my archives. It is a compilation of GM-recommended service intervals for '88-'92 vehicles, but applies to most newer ones too.

I think around 150k, but if you ever do a rebuild or cam swap when the car is approaching 100k, I would go ahead and change it then, they're not that expensive for the amount of work that needs to be done.
