Guys I need help, My car just developed a spark knock. I thought I got a bad batch of gas but 100 oct didnt bring it out of it either. It starts very hard like its advanced too far. It knocks in park when you rev it up, sounds kinda like a studderbox. Then it pings when you stand in it going down the road. Otherwise if you drive it normal it runs ok, but starts hard. I checked the initial timing today ,its right on. I have a AFPR which is set at 45 psi which is also right on while running , However I dont have constant fuel press with just the key on. it leaks down fast. I'm changing the rear this week and had already planned on changing the fuel pump. But why am I pinging all the sudden? control module in distributor? Any Ideas?......Thanks Brian

A few more details would be very helpful. What is the base timing setting? What is the coolant temperature when the knock occurs? Does it happen under any specific conditions? Are you still using an EGR system and is it working?
