Help Please!!!!!!

ok heres the deal. i got my 145 spedo today. i put it the car. i checked the mph when my dad road next to me in his truck. he was doing 25 and i was doing about 15. then we went on the high way. side to side with my dad. he was doing 55. my car said 30. then on the way back to my house we tried it again. i was doing 60 and it said 30. when i let off the gas it went up to 60 then fell to about 30 and went back to around 50. the speedo does shake alittle when driving. the old speedo shook alot. so went i had everyting apart i put graphite on the cable to lube it up. my question is; what the hell is wrong with it. is it the cable. should i replace it. PEASE HELP SOON. thanks

I'd check both ends of the cable, and the tranny gears. I've never done this before, but that is what I'd check first. Maybe the speedo was junk, giving the person you bought it from a reason to remove and sell it. Hope not.

everything on the speedo works. so i'm going to get a new cable today and see if that works (i hope so).

You need the speedo gear housing on the side of the trans, and probably the driven gear too (21 tooth red IIRC)... my car used to do that, especially in 5th gear (it was not near as bad in other gears) until I got rid of the chinesium POS gear housing. For a while the speedo wouldn't work at all in 5th. A new one at the dealer is steel, it's altogether better, like it's not even made by the same company. Unbelievable difference.
