Installing/Picking A New Coil

After talking to a guy here (Todd, any comments on this would be great), I've decided to get a new coil for my Z28. Now, from what I'm reading, the kind that I would want to get in the one that fits on top of the cap, which would be like the MSD Blaster GM Coil right? What exactly are these called...HEI Coil's or ? I want something that is a direct bolt-on...

Is installation as easy as it seems? Any step-by-step guides you could give me? From what I've gathered (From Todd's previous email to me) is that it's just a couple screws on top of the distributor cap...I know I can handle that.

It looks like I'm going to go with Todd's suggestion and a Proform 50,000 volt coil. Anyone else have different suggestions? I don't want to spend too much on a coil, because I want to get my gears done ASAP, some little kid wants to race me in his Nissan NX2000...

I've had the Accel HEI coil for 5 years now with no problems. It cost about $50 or so.

Installation is a breeze. 4 screws and two wires, its pretty straight forward.

Any soldering of the two wires or do they just use a plastic clip?

No, no, no.

No soldering, just two male ends that push down. Once you take the old coil out, you will see what I am talking about. I hope you are not trying to make this harder that it is.

Its kind like "You cant win if you dont play" What I mean is once you start to take it apart, you will find that is so brainless, you will want to shoot yourself.

I'm not trying to be hard, but just give it a shot. The only way you learn is by making mistakes. But I guarntee you wont screw this one up.
