Why is this?

When I turn on the AC in the IROC I swear I can feel the change in power. Now whenever I drive my Cavalier (yeah I know ) and I turn on the AC I don't feel any change in perfromance. I know that the IROC has more power than that little car, so what's the deal? Is it a different compressor design? Is it a lower pully ratio for the small higher reving engine?

Now here's the money question. Has anyone put one of those A/C systems into an older car?

I see a lot of you out there removing it, but it's hot down here (near 100F forcast tomorrow) A/C is a necessity.
