Need opinion on Compression Results

Vader,
Tried what you said ,and got better results. I loosened the rockers on cylinder #1. Which was the dead cylinder. I put a better battery in her ,and blocked open the carb. All the plugs were removed ,and I tested it again. Here are the resuls:
Front of Car
#1=170psi #2=160psi
#3=160psi #4=160psi
#5=160psi #6=160psi
#7=150psi #8=160psi

I still see white smoke from exaust ,and now I see water dripping from rear of engine onto exaust pipe. Also I am getting a skip when in drive. Could this be from a intake manifold leak causing coolant to enter cylinder ,and thus causing white smoke ,and causing the skip due to spark being snuffed by coolant? Any more pointers?:hail:

I'm not Vader but I'll give my opinion. If you're seeing water coming from the back driver's side of the manifold then it's possible it could be getting in the #7 cylinder also. Are you sure it's off the manifold and not maybe from the head gasket, the #7 is a little lower? Hope you get it worked out

Actually its really hard telling where the leak is. I felt the back of the heads and found no wetness. Found no coolant in oil either ,no milky appearance to the dip stick. I just want to know whats causing the skip ,and lack of power. Should I check intake manifold first? If so what am I looking for? Dont want to pull heads if I dont need to. If it was a head wouldnt my compression readings be much lower? Again thanks for any pointers you have. Want to go cruising this year with my car. Been parked two long years.

Which side is the water coming from? Just want to make sure it's not off the a/c, even the defoggers use the a/c system. The puff of white smoke is an indicator that one of the cylinders is getting water in it. You could try pressure testing the cooling system but them you run the risk of hydro-locking the motor if there is a leak into the combustion chamber.

The drip is on the passenger side. It hits the starter ,and then leaks on exaust. I removed all the AC stuff.

03,

Your numbers look a lot more normal for a 9:1 engine, so on the surface I'd say the mechanical condition is at least acceptable, with no serious damage to rings or valves.

How long did you have it running before the leakage was apparent? I'd test the cooling system just to be sure, but if the leak doesn't occur until the coolant is hot, you may have a leak on the intake gasket. A head gasket or cracked head should have shown lower compression on #6 or #8, so I think you're O.K. there.

If the laek cannot be found at the intake, you may also have a heater hose problem at the firewall.

The leak starts when the car comes up to temp. I felt the back of the intake ,and found no wetness. Could the leak be behind the firewall? Maybe my heater core?:confused
