IROC vs Caddy

I was following my friend to his house and he drives an Caddy, not exactly sure of the year, but it's not the new kind with the Northstar motor. The original engine blew so he put a 305 in it. The car pulls pretty good. So I pull up next to him and he's like you ready to go. I was like ok, but I didn't have my shiftlite set and the light that shows the face of it isn't workin at the moment, so I had no idea where I was shifting at. Anyways as we were talkin I looked over and it was green, I mashed the gas and spun a little in 1st, he did the same, but I got the jump and was gone. The only times he had a chance was when shifting my tranny shifts real bad. He later said, man you killing me, but I noticed when you shifted that each time I gained a little, but when it went in gear you pulled on me. He said it seemed like you were granny shifting. Can't wait till I can get this tranny shifting better.

Caddys can really have some power. You have a 350 right? Is your tranny auto? you mentioned a shift light, how can you control where you shift if you have an auto?

When I had my tranny rebuilt, the guy made it so I can have full control of my shifting.

How long ago did the tranny get rebuilt if it is already slipping?

It was rebuilt over the summer, it wasn't by a shop though. But maybe I'll see if my Dad can contact the guy and have him install the vette servo and boost valve free of charge. I already have the parts, just no means of installing them.

My friend has a '93 STS with the 32V V8. It moves! He hangs with my stang up to 60-70MPH and then i start pulling away! We tried to go to the track wed to see what it runs but we got rained out

When my car was stock it was beat by an STS, and it actually caught us by surprise. There were FIVE of us in the Mustang and one older guy in the caddy and he jumped off good. I bet he could have gone mid to low 15s!

Don't mess with the BIG BLOCK Caddy. I've got a 1971 Eldorado convt with a 500ci big block, that thing flys (for a boat). I don't know what it will run but I haven't been beat yet. I have raced a few modded Civic Si's and I destroyed them, it hangs even with my buddies GTP so it must run atleast low 15's but it's a bit** to plant the tires with all of that torque.

The newer Seville SLS and STS's are very formidable cars; don't let their size fool ya'. With the 4.6L 32 valve DOHC Northstar V-8 under the hood (275 hp for the SLS/ 300 hp for the STS), they will move.

I haven't run my '98 SLS at the track, but I know the STS's are good for mid 14's bone stock. For more info on these awesome rides, check out www.caddyinfo.com

I raced my friend in his 96 Eldorado ETC back when my car was stock , and even with 5 passengers, compared to my two , he pulled on me just a little no matter what speed we were at.

I'd guess I was running low 15's - high 14's back then so I'd definatly believe they can run mid 14's stock

But the best feature on these cars is that the chicks REALLY dig 'em!
