Me vs. 1984 Impala, who will win?

Hey,
I have a 1986 Firebird, 2.8L MPFI, stock, 140,000miles, gonna add a k&n air filter with cold air intake soon. I drove it 3000kms and the oil is still full, and its still clear not black.

My friend has a 1984 Chevrolet Impala 4 door (big *** boat) with a 305 4bbl, stock, 170,100miles. The engine bay is dirty, it burns oil. And the valve covers are rusty (LOL).

I guess my question is who will win? how much horsepower did these Impala's put out? (obvously it doesnt now considering the mileage and the oil burning.)

What would I need to beat him? If anything? I imagine his car wieghs like 3500lbs or something.? and its only got around 150hp?
Fill me in, please!

P.S. I can't race him till we both get our licence, we are still 15 lol. but I go for mine on sept 15.

Thanks

It'll be close. Some kid kept harrassing me to race in his stock 84' impala when I was in my lincoln one night. I blew his doors off but I've beaten v6 camaro's alot worse than I beat him. So I say it'll be close but I think with weight advantage being on your side will get you the win.

You should take him easily. The Caprice/Impala are not all that fast off the line. They usualy came with some really high gears in the rear and take forever to get up to speed. Especialy with a worn out 305,although it is probably a HO 4bbl. 305. I cant remember right of hand what the HP rating is on one, but I think its around 150. If your MPFI 2.8 is backed by a 5-spd you'll walk all over that Impala!

I don't think it would be all that close of a race. I've had two 305 powered Caprices and an '86 MPFI Firebird. The MPFI 3rd gens are alot quicker than the 305 boats.

Even with an auto, you should still pull on the Impala.

i would love to see this race battle of the 19 second cars but i think it would be pretty close but i'd have to give to to the impala due to the bigger engine
