tonight after work i started the ride home, about half a mile down the road i saw a 4th gen camaro pull out behind me, i prayed it was a z28, it flew up next to me, and it ended up being a guy i know, ive raced him before and he beat me by about half to a whole car length, i didnt care, and i had some more mods to my car ( his is a 95-96 auto , with borla cat back, and some other little mods like air intkae etc.) well after he flew next to me and i hit it, and hit it hard. (this was from a 20-30 mph roll) at first i jumped him, and i thought to myself "well this wont last" but to my disbeleif, i started pulling, i couldnt beleive it, IT WAS AWESOME, since ive had my car its been a goal beat an lt1, and i finally did. and i assure you guys this is no bs.

Good run! How do you like those 3:23 gears? I am planning on getting some and want to see how they are.

 

they are stock but they do pretty well (the gears)

 

Well I guess when it comes to me anything will be better that what I got.

 

Not to sound like an ******* or anything.. But the 1986 TPI 305 came with 190 HP.. I'm not a math major or anything.. But those simple mods busted u up and even over 270+ HP? I know with my 305 its hard to get a huge amount of HP added with a mod. Maybe he wasn't racing too hard or his engine is crapping?

 

He has a new cam. The thing making his engine 190 hp was the cam and he replaced with a more aggressive cam. These engines really wake up with a cam swap.

 

dont take me wrong .i dont think ..cam,headers,intake,exhaust mods can give the 70-90 hp needed to beat the LT1...

 

what do y'all think his mods added to his 305?

cam, 20hp?
headers, 20?
exhaust, 10?
intake stuff, 10?

roughly 60-70hp?

The Z28 should have 275 + his exhaust/intake (20hp) = about 295hp.

So it does seem a `lil short. ..assuming you won like you said, i'd say he's a lame driver or his cars whack, no offense.

 

i raced an lt1 with catback auto and beat him by 1/2 car length up to about 65mph. those lt1s run from 14.0-14.4. ive seen em at the track and on the street. some are to be reckoned with and will hand me my ***, but maybe i just pulled up 2 one w/o the performance axle option = )
