2.8L mpfi bird vs. 2.8L mpfi cavalier

ok i was on my way to school yesterday, and a cavalier pulls up next to me at a redlight so we race, i had him on initial take off, but once i hit 5 grand, i layed off a bit and he finally overtook me, i was in a 88 firebird with 208k on it and my fat *** inside it, do you think it pretty much held its own or i should of been able to completly take the cavalier?

The 2.8 cav's are lighter and have better burning cylinder heads. No surprise that he took you

The Cavalier is going to take you if he knows how to drive, they run mid-high 15's stock. 0-60 in 7.5 seconds

Transmission type might affect this- if it was automatics-

V6 Cavilers and Sunbirds had a 3spd auto

THe F-bodys had the 4spd auto which should greatly enhance their off the line VS a 3spd auto
