alrite 2 of the 3 cars are fuel injected one tpi one tbi and lets throw in a lt1 and a ls1 engine just for the hell of it. do i stand a chance
Well im assuming the 84 isnt an L69 HO 305, but rather an LG4. Considering the 87 and up 305 TPI engines make roughly about 70 hp more than the LG4, i'd say the TPI would win
. To hang with an LT1 ur gonna need to have some serious moddage on ur car, and the LS1 is too far outta reach man those are beasts. :hail: LS1:hail:

what would a stock 86 305 tpi crate motor make? all he had done to the car was k&n filters and a flowmaster exaughst( i dunno how to spell it.).

i can hang with/beat lt1's in my car with the mods below, havent tried an ls1 yet, but i imagine with a bigger cam, bigger intake runners, and some well matched heads (votecs, l98 vettes) a 305 would stand a very good chance or stomping an ls1.
ls1's fast? umm. yeah
ls1 unbeatable? not by a long shot
just my .02
sometimes it just comes down to a drivers race

If you have the LG4 305 you're only packing around 145-150hp. You won't be beating much of anything without some mods. If you have the L69 HO 305 5spd you're packing a much better 190hp, and should be able to hang with a 5spd TPI car, but I would expect them to take the race with decent driving. I don't remember the vin codes for each engine, if you're not sure what you have check the tech database on this site, it has the breakdown. The 8th digit of your VIN will tell you which engine you've got... The TBI car is rated at 170hp BTW, if it's an auto you could maybe take it with a LG4 5spd.

Hi
I have a 305 TBI with auto transmission and some time ago ( before I made mods ) with my stock Formula I beat a Trans Am with 305 TPI with automatic. It is strange because I should have about 170 hp whereas the T/A 190 hp. Well I think the torque plays greater role than such low horsepower difference.
We made a rematch the same day and I beat him too
The TBI has greater torque at low rpm better than 305 tpi ( which is better at mid rpm) . So at the beginning of the race I burst forward and stay first to the very end , but Trans am was catchning me in the end, but he didn`t
best regards

TunedPortZ, I don't mean to put you down or anything. But if your time in your sig is correct, the only way you hang with lt1s is if it's going in reverse. It's possible you hang with them until about 40 mph, but past that, there is no way.
Hehe, you must have raced some ****ty drivers, but it feels good killing one even if you did
I don't even think I can take a stock lt1 yet and I'm in the high 8s in the 1/8th now (ignore the sig).
