umm you have a 305 TPI in your RS?? I was under the assumption that every RS was a 305 TBI or a 6 cylinder, except for the B4C RS. I mean unless you yanked out the TBI and put in a TPI.
Would this be a VR4, or the SL model? Because if it was a VR4, he would have wasted a stock '92 RS. And last thing is dont always assume that they are fart cans. Because on some of the turbo charged imports, i.e. Supra, 3000 GTs, etc, that is all they can get for exhaust, or go with straight pipes.

I beat one w/ my almost totally stock TBI. It was definately not a VR-4 though; that would have been a different story.
......how difficult was the TBI -> TPI switch?? I've been wanting to do that for a while now. What all does it entail?

Sometimes people (like me) forget to change the way the tranny shifts with an auto, there's a switch on the console that you can switch from economy to performance. I usually always drive in economy for gas mileage and forget to switch it when it's time to hit it. If it's in econo mode, you can't rev the gears out.. in performance, the redline is the limit..
I know these cars aren't that quick and are very heavy... but they aren't pushovers. There's been plenty of times that I can hit 60mph pretty quickly.. and I still run the restrictive stock exhaust.
And all of these 2.8's out there laying the smackdown on these cars, what power adders are you running? My '89 2.8 only had 130hp and couldn't get out of it's own way.
Although, somedays I wish I could toss a Buick 3.8 turbo in there...

I think the SL with 222 hp was a mid to high 15 second car. The base model with 164hp is probably the 16-17 second car.

I did do the swap myself and It was no picnic. Some words of advice for ppl who would like to do this swap I would just recomend getting all the parts you will need b4 you start on it. If you are converting from tbi to tpi then I would also recomend changing the heads while your at it. the main things you need is. Wiring harness, Tpi system, ECM, Fuel Pump, Throttle cable, Fuel sending unit, Computer chip for ecm (specific to year and engine) I would also recomend adding duel fans if you are in weather that is over 95* constantly. I live in sacramento and have been running just one fan but it warms up really quik and is real slow to cool it down. Im pretty sure you could do a TPI swap with the things I have listed and no more. The tpi swap guide on the Tech Board is kinda a piece of crap. there is alot missing from that. If you are doing this swap and are having trouble hooking up your shift light and your speedo then Do a search and find my name on there it will tell you how to hook both of those up with ease. other than that if you have any problems with a tbi to tpi swap or just want some general info email me at ericcamaro@hotmial.com

good thing to point out with the 3KGTs!! the autos have a econ/power switch to control how the tranny shifts, also the OD push button on the stick,if this is on it will shift sluggishly just like a thirdgen in OD instead of Drive. the outcome of a race will change drasticly with the E/P switched to "power" and the OD switched "off" it's like a night and day difference!! some people are too pea brained to know the functions of those controls or don't even care! so point that out to a friend or whoever if you want a "fair" race! contrary to popular belief, the autos are quite fast,it didn't even seem to make a difference in the one i drove,it shifts much more effieciently than older autos, the traction control is comparable to a stick too.

Don't underestimate the power of a 6, especially if it's got a turbo attached to it.
