Worked a Stang last night... BAD.

I was on my way over to Starbucks to see if any cars there were worth running ( that's the local hangout) and on my way there I saw this really clean GT vert, 98' I believe with flowmasters of course, black with chrome stock 17 inch wheels. These 2 young guys in it think they are hot sh*t and he starts revving away. I look over and smile, kinda look at him like he must be crazy if that's all he's got and he wants to run w/me. His friend thinks I'm scared or something and starts laughing hard, ok.

Light goes green, I try to feather it but the tires break loose and he gets a 1 car lead, I powershift to 2nd and his front tire is at my door, broke them loose again, and I shut it down before I even got into 3rd cause by then I already had at least 6 cars on him. I swear I'm not racing those 4.6 liter pieces of crap anymore, it's a waste of gas.

Can't wait for all the Mustang Guys to show up to tell me that the SOHC motors suck and etc. but some mustangs still run.... Bring it on, as soon as I get my lower control arms and SFC's, I'm going Cobra Hunting!!!

Do you have any track times. The SOHCs did suck, there is no way around it! I hope you don't mean 2003 Cobra hunting!!! Any other Cobra would be close!

Not to rag on you, but you say you smiled at him for revving at you, but you don't really have a killer combo there. If the Cobra was modded you might have been in trouble, though a stock vert isn't all that fast.

A kill is a kill. I'm impressed with anything making that much power. Sounds like you need to invest in some drag radials.

Hell yeah I smiled.

Mark, I know my combo isn't the greatest thing on earth but for a 305 it definately gets the job done. I smiled because My car sets off car alarms all day long even when they're on the other side of the street. This guys revs his 4.6 and I looked at him wondering why. He shouldv'e known by the sound of my car that he was toast.

And no, I don't mean a 2003 Cobra, I know I can't run with those. I wanna run a 2001 Cobra.

After my warranty is up on my long block 1yr. or 10k mi. , I'm gonna throw some nice heads on there. By then My traction issues should be worked out and I'll have a nice motor.

I don't think I need Drag Radials yet, I think I would still get wheel hop if I had them. I installed a energy suspension torque arm bushing and that gave me wheel hop bad since the flex was less, it put more strain on the reaend components.

I'm definately gonna wait till the traction mods are done before I waste any cash on time trials, I want the car to be consistent.

My car isn't even done yet and I got a challenge from a cobra (a good friend of mine's friend). I saw someone on this board, (forgot their name), races for emblems. I think I would like to hang a cobra up in my garage.

Whatever guys

Go talk crap to someone who wants to listen. I've never had a problem with you Mark, even though your 350 is slow and you are lipping off to me right now, I'll look past it. Monkie: Go find a website that thinks what you have to say is worth hearing. Everyone here Knows that you just love to run your yap cause you run 13.1. Go home.

By the way Mark: I said I had 6 lenghths on him at about 3k rpm in 2nd gear with a bad launch. Call me stupid but I'd say that even that car being a 15 second stocker, my combo is running good. I go to the top of 4th in the full quarter, so 6 lengths in second in a royal beating.

Please make up your mind. Did you beat him at 3,000rpms in 2nd by 6 car lengths or did you royally beat him by 6 car lengths because you broke it loose mid way through 2nd? :sillylol:

Monkie, Why do you have to come in here and crap on other people's stories? You don't like it when ppl call your car SLOW, so why are you doing the same thing to him?

Because there is a difference. People that run 15.5 are calling my car slow because it pulled a 13.1?

Then 330hp comes around saying "but you come around acting like a car that is about 10 years newer than ours with a 13.1 timeslip is hot sh*t. Big Deal. Learn how to drive and learn how to have a bit of humility." I mean what a moron, I didn't even originally post my times, someone else did. Yet I still got attacked. So if they think they can dish it out so can I.

Because Monkie for what you have it is slow. Maybe it isn't the car, maybe we should call the driver slow than!!! I would love to spend $35,000 and run low 13s, and complain when people call me slow!

Monkie you are somethin'

Trying to call the bs on me huh, I never said I broke the tires loose MID-WAY in 2nd I powershifted to 2nd and broke them loose, not a chirp. Like Got nasty all over my lane. Get it?? Relate to the story as it's written, not how you wanna see it.

Oh yeah, you are right he must not have been racing, that's why he had a 1 car lead on me from the launch.

This is not the 330hp car, my 91RS is the one.

Don't worry Monkie, after I take care of the traction issues, I'm gonna get a set of really good heads, and I can guarantee you that my 310 will run better than 13.1. All for less than 5 grand.

Go ahead and run your yap about what I just said Monkie. 305's especially if bored out a bit, can hit the 12's N/A. Do a search, you'll see. Especially if you can drive

By the way wise ***, who runs a 15.5???? ME??? That probably why I beat a Stang that runs about a 15.5 by 6 lengths in 2nd.

So now I paid $5,000 to hit a 13.1? Ok, lets see power wise I have UD pulleys, X pipe, Catback, and a filter. How does that go to $5,000? Ok make your third gen a 13.1 in a 305 and then go to resell it and see what it brings. Then I will sell mine and lets see who gets most of their moneys worth out of it.

Right Monkie...

Hey Monkie, I meant 5 grand for the entire car!!!!!!!! Not the Mods!!!!!, so far I don't even have 3 grand into it!!!

As far as the tire size, it's in the sig, but I won't be a dick, they are 255/50/16's brand spankin' new.

Yes you paid 3 grand for the car. I have a car with alot less miles on the entire car, still have a warrantee, resale is still high, and is built very strong. So you cant throw in money really. Hell I can sell my car, buy a LX 5.0 and spend the rest of the money I have left over and it will take you years to get as fast as I could make it. And you must be making decent power if you are spinning 255's. Just dont think you are the only one that ends up in the lane next to you when you power shift into 2nd.

I still have a warranty...

I put the shortblock in myself and still have 6k miles worth of warranty left, yeah your car is worth more, but think of it this way....: If you do every bit of labor on your car yourself, you save a lot of money. I must hav saved about 2 g's by now. Haven't had a mechanic work on it since I've owned it. So far I've paid 3 g's and I embarrass car that are still worth 20 grand. Thats what matters to me. and I know I could make 2 grand on it if I sold it right now. Why sell it though. Heads, traction mods and I wanna hit 12's with my L69 305. That's something you can brag about.

Fast would be faster than a new STOCK LS1!!! That would be considered fast, and you seem to be slower than most!!! And who buys a car for resale, I have never thought about selling my car. All I think about is how I am going to use it, but if you only think about resale, look at the difference b/w what you bought it for, and what you could sell it for!!! That is a bigger difference than the cost of his car!!!

I think you two should race, motor against motor!!! It would be funny the look on his face!!! But then he will say "Oh but let me turn the bottle on to beat your RS" That would be funny!

5.0 you seem like you talk COMPLETELY out of your ***. Believe what you want, I could care less. Yes I am slower than a stock LS1. Seeing how they come stock with 275's and I'm stuck with 255 Firestones. You seriously think with DRs I cant break 12's? And since when does 13.1 not beat STOCK LS1. I think I smell someone getting jealous.

No Monkie, not jeleousy, I could have wasily saved up the money and bought a Cobra, no questions. But I decide to go with the pushrod 5.0 for MANY reasons! I would explain but why waste my time on someone who never has anything constructive to say! And I have seen stock LS1s go low 13s with no problems and trap 106-107 all day!

I have no comment but to add this; At least Ford circled the problem!

Please tell me why you chose the pushrod over the Cobra engine. Plus buddy you could have gotten a 5.0 Cobra. But hey its your money and you can spend it however you like. See you need to realize that saying. And 13.9 on slicks...not impressed. (whats traction?) I guess from all that mad torque you make you couldn't put it all to the ground on slicks. Still...your money your car.

Yeah

You guys need to chill. The ford 302 is and always will be one of the most durable, easy to modify, powerhouses ever conceived. 4.6's are new, there performance is lackluster in comparison. Especially in the developement of torque. ANY MOTOR CAN RUN STRONG IF IT IS MODIFIED AND TUNED PROPERLY. Look at hondas and such, they can run too if they are built. I anyone had to pick between OHV and OHC, I think it'd be OHV for simplicity and most of all cost reasons when you mod them.

for you guys that would choose a OHV car over a OHC car have you ever been down the track in a DOHC V8? I have been in both 5.0s and DOHC cobras and to me I could care less. The DOHC engine responds better to mods and if you are looking for forced induction then the DOHC is the way to go. If you are looking at nitrous DOHC is the way to go. Now before most of you jump up my *** yes I know the 5.0 has WAY more parts out there but the only reason is because the OHC engines have been out only since the mid 90's. And I also know a 5.0 could take a 200 shot where as a DOHC is good up to a 160 shot. Keep in mind there the 5.0 has factory forged pistons where the DOHC doesn't. Just an opinion...

Hey Monkie...

I have seen 302's with monster blowers on them and a 200 shot, I've seen 500 horse setups on 302's that cen break into the 8's. Call me stupid but i haven't seen any 4.6l's pulling better than 11's or 10's if they're lucky.

I'm mad because I got a ford? no
I got the lamest cobra for ever made? no
I spent way too much? not really I actually got it cheaper then it should have been
get a 98 up Z or SS? no, cant afford a camaro's insurance and personally I don't want GM's crap the only good thing in those cars are the tranny (which ford uses) and the engine
it will save me alot of money in the long run? no again, I can actually boost without going boom stock.

I would really appreciate it if you just STFU and quit making yourself look like a complete *** and wasting my time with replying to your immature and trying to start a flame war posts.

I have seen the new 03 make 600+rwhp. I know of a guy with a turbo on his DOHC engine with only 5 psi pushing 400rwhp. I know ALOT of DOHC cobras with only 10psi making 500rwhp and some with 16psi making 680rwhp. You just have to look, like I said the reason you see more 5.0s is because they are way cheaper to mod. Personally I like being able to rev to no ends.

And Monkie, the 13.9 was on Drag Radials, spinning through 1st, into second, into third, and a chirp in 4th. And before you jump on torque, I have 300 stock, and you have 317, wow it's a good thing the DOHCs are torque!!!

Hey I have a Ford and I am not one bit upset! I like it and wouldn't trade it for anything except a 1993 Cobra!!!

I'm sure buddy. On 275DRs with about 250hp you have you spun all the damn gears. Sounds to me like you perfectly had traction and ran a 13.9
