160 HP@7600 RPMS and 111 FT/LBS@7000 RPM. That with a 5 speed is still not very scary. I would say that they would be in the 16's because of the non-existant torque, and the fact that most ppl would not dump the clutch if they were racing.

My freind raced a Si, still had the paper plates but was still riced out. Had glowing **** all on the dash and had the glowing floormats. Had a tach the size of my head almost. Anyways it was me, and 3 freinds in in his mom's LXi Concorde, and we saw the Civic when we were coming out of Taco Bell, and we tried to chase him. We got next to him at the first light, he looks over and sees 4 guys in a Concorde and starts revving his engine. My freind looks over at him, of course he had his g/f in the car, and he laughed at him. The guy had this serious look on his face like he was going to make some big decision or so something really important. My freind waits for the Civic to go, the Civic doesnt go, and this continues for 2 more lights, with the Civic than pacing us then flooring it. We after we got passed traffic we were going up a hill, this is where the Civic made a bad move, he decided he would race my freind here. He flies by doing 50 or so at the base of the hill, my freind slams his foot to the ground and easily makes up ground. My freind in the back yells ,"Holy **** you are pulling on him!!!" We looked over and the Civic, which is a torque challenged car, was not gaining much speed up the hill, and we pulled 2 car lengths by the top of the hill. I tell my freind to flash his hazards, of course he asks what the hell that means. He then just quickly taps the breaks, and then the Civic goes flying by doing at least 80 and flashes his hazards after my freind had already had.

yeah that is what I call a *****. can't stand people like that. I was just curious because it's what I drive. I just wanted to get the point of view from the other side of the car world. I hope you guys don't flame the **** outta me here because I wouldn't mind sticking around. I really like my car but the whole torque thing with my car is horrible. It's actually sad....I can't even say torque in a sentence referring to my car. Oh well, I just won't race anyone uphill. Just to clarify I ran a 15.38@89.5 something mph and my car is stock. I am not the best driver yet so I would think a solid driver would easily be able to pull off a 15.1 in my car.

There's no prob w/ you being here, we have quite a few non-F-body owners here, lots of 5.0s, and import guys too! As long as you don't BS or start flame wars, we love having the outsider viewpoints. What year is your SI? The cool part about these kinds of matchups is that imports, for the most part, make all their speed at the top end, whereas our cars are all about off-the-line performance. Back to topic, the new SI is a solid 15-sec. car stock, which is my beef, since Honda really didn't make any headway over the last SI. They easy could have upped the power in the motor, instead of the 160-HP version they have now. The auto rags constantly say that Honda should have dropped the drivetrain from the RSX Type-S in it. That said, we probably won't see any major changes in the new SIs for at least a couple of years.

Nothing wrong with that... so long as you're honest and don't try to BS about what your car can and cannot do, you'll be fine. Stick around.

A person BSing about their 'bird or 'maro is just as bad as a *****, so jes' keep it real.

my car is a 2000 si. Oh Ragnarok...those 02 si's aren't a 15 sec. car. Maybe they can tip into the high 15's with the BEST drivers but I have mostly seen mid to low 16's out of them. I don't know what the hell Honda was thinking with those. But I'll have to wait and see what aftermarket parts they come out with for them.
Thanks for the welcome guys...you don't have to worry about me BSin. I'm as moddest as they come.

yeah i beat honda si's all the time..

i like beating all kinds of people that just spent well over 10,000 on their car and put some exhaust on and they think they are the fastest in the world..

the only honda si is lost too that i can remember was like a 1990 honda crx si with a motor swap, exhaust, turbo..

i beat him off the line, but once he was making some real psi i was toast and lost by about 4 car lengths..

thirdgen's still rule!!

sup newguy, I WISH there were twinturbo kits(almost anyway) for our cars, heck even a single turbo kit would be solid. Still, this site is both knowledgable AND entertaining so enjoy yer stay

I raced one at the track last year. I'll put it this way: I was driving back to get my slip before he finished racing.

I don't know too much about your cars but I thought the 350's would spank me. They run somewhere in the 14 mid 14's stock right? Hopefully when I save up the cash I can get FI but as for now I'm stuch stock. Nothing wrong with that though. The GReddy turbo kit should put me in the high 13's running at 6psi on street tires. A buddy I know who goes to RPI has it and ran a 13.8@104 (I think that was his trap????).

I beat those riced out hondas all day long, and im only running mid 13's. The ones around here seem wicked slow. Once I get my WS6 I am going to beat them even worse.

btw- My ws6 will be in the 11's.

The civic si is a zoomy car, i wouldnt say fast, but ok. i mean it is a inline4. Any Tpi car has nothing to worry about, but tbi, i think all depends on the diver.

I don't really think a TBI car has much to worry about, especially the posers. They spend more money in rims, body kits, exhaust tips, chrome, lights, etc than in the engine. My van used to run 15.2s and never lost to one. The only time I had one go around me, the TV cable was misadjusted and when the 700r4 went for 3rd it just dropped back into 2nd about 5 or 6 times and would not hold 3rd @ WOT.

I read this and was confused, because the new ('05) Si's are just under 200 horses. Then I realized that the post was from 2002 and it cleared things up a bit.

I've never raced an Si, but I've spanked a few '98-'00 EX's in my slightly modded RS. They were no threat whatsoever.

Ive race several...althought i dont have an Fbody...they were weak. On a bad launch one might stay with me until the end of 2nd gear.

They are fun to race...the owners always think they are so quick
