A lot my friend. Definately an aggressive rebuild if you want to keep it naturally aspirated.

stock lt1 shouldn't take a whole lot, but an ls1 eh just get 150 shot and call it a day.

yeah the lt1 are pretty quik, stock they have 285 horse. and the LS1 has about 315. It would take quite a bit.

to beat an LT1 i would put in a bigger stall with some better gears, then for added hp some runners, full exhaust, and ported plenum. that should beat a stock lt1 i would think.

what do you think a brand new 4 bolt main with a step up in cam, ported heads, ported plenum, headers, flomaster cat-back, not sure what the torque converter is but it's aftermarket.. a few other lil things too.. (8mm wires, home made cold air, lil air foil thang) it's dynoed w/ the stock exhaust and intake for 245 hp w/ 350 ftlbs....

I just dropped it in c/ the moron b4 me had the engine with the rods in the wrong order and the pistons cracked and put a hole through the cylinder wall..

The exhuast should open that motor up quite a bit. What kind of heads? What cam specs?

If you're racing an LT1 at the track or at a stoplight you're in good shape w/o having to do much. The fastest factory LT1 I've seen only ran 14.59. Look at my sig and do the math. At the higher RPM though, look out. LS1....well depends on alot. I've seen one run 14.20, the next weekend watched one run 13.43. Depends on the motor and driver. However, I admit you prob don't stand a chance against one in either case. Fast86 had a good idea with the N2O. Also how much $ you got? The more you have, you more it helps.... Rebuild+Good Parts+Power Adder=WTF was that!?

A friend of mine ran 14.1 @ 100 MPH w/ a bone stock LT1 w/ 2.73 gears and auto tranny. Don't know if that is very common though.

As for LS1's, expect an ave of low-mid 13's. Don't be surprised if a stock LS1 runs a high 12 on ya though. Mine has a lid and cat-back and my times are in my sig. Chalk up the poor 13.5 to terrible track prep, crappy stock GSC tires, and my driving (it was my first time at the track with that car). 109 MPH is good enough for mid-high 12's though

As for your dyno numbers, is that at the wheels? For reference, stock LT1's usually dyno around 240 rwhp and LS1's in the 285-315 rwhp neighborhood.
