question for Stang guys
ok thers a debate going on at Saturnspeed.com about the rated output of the 93 Cobra. i always thought the standard GTs (and LXs) with the 5.0HO motor were rated 225hp/300ftlbs, while the Cobra was rated at 260hp/???ftlbs. a few of the Stang guys over there are telling me the 93 Cobras were rated at 235hp and 285ftlbs. so who is right?
mods... please let this stay open for a bit until my questions are answered please

Officially Ford rates the 87-92 5.0 as 225HP and rates the 1993 LX/GT at 205HP and the Cobra at 235HP
This was due to a change in the way Ford rated Horsepower.
Unofficially, we've had this talk on stangnet and corral and '93 cobra owners who have dynoed their stock cars have gotten 225-235HP to the rear wheels. That puts flywheel numbers at 260-270HP.
That also applies to the 94-95 5.0L cobra as well.
Even the 94-95GT was slightly underrated. The 10HP bump to 215HP in 1994 was due to an electric fan being added. If anything, all 87-95 5.0's (non-cobra) are basically in the 220-225 range
I'd post it over there but too lazy to register. Anyone wanna copy past for me?

I've seen one run 14.2 at 98 mph stock as far I could tell. With that trap it would be easily capable of 13's.
And yes, I did race him and beat him with my '89.

Yes the 93 Cobras were under rated at 235 hp but the parts on the car are great begining points. Add new valves, new Mass Air meter, and a stock HO cam retarded 4 degrees and you have a mid to low 12 second capable motor (no lie, been proven many times)!
