.....to put inside the car that would capture decent quality video and audio. I have a laptop in the car for Datalogging, so I could use that for recording passes or races via the USB port. Any suggestions?

Hey...have you taken your car to the track? What kind of times are u running?

As for the camera...I can't really weigh in on which one but I would like to hear some suggestions as well. I plan on doing the exact same thing.

depends on what you concider decent....get an expensive webcam and mic, ya may be content with that....but i doubt it, so shop around...go to best buy, comp usa...talk to them, see what they recomend...make them show you the stuff and how it works.....then you can go home, read reviews on it, etc.

I still need to a few things before I goto the track, but the camera is for proof.

I need tires, and I'm still data logging and tuning the PROM / ECM. But I can tell you that the car runs pretty damn good! High 11's shouldn't be a problem.

If I can figure out a good camera solution, I'll post the video!

Careful with the camera stuff, I know a guy who got his *** kicked for shooting video of cars, after all street racing is NOT LEGAL and some people might not want there car on a video, I know I wouldn't.

I see these at SCCA races. My boss has one mounted on his roll cage. Seems to deliver decent footage.

I was actually thinking about something like this: USB camera

What do you guys think?

Also, I would only record races of me and people that had no objection to it. I would also be taping every pass I make at the track.

I just think it's a cool idea. If someone could host the footage (.mpeg's), I'll post some vid's when I get the camera.

I dont see there being a problem with that one.

hmmm I was gonna do this same stuff with my T/A, I'll have to wait and do it to the Z28 now.

Did you get my PM about the airbox? I forget if I sent one.

Yea, but I haven't replied yet. I'm still looking into the material, but I have 6 people so far that want them, so I will be hopefully filling orders soon. I will PM you and the others when I have the first set made with the new material to see if you're interested in a purchase.

On a side note, I'll be picking up that camera today or tomorrow. (The one in the last link I posted). It should do the trick!

from my experiance...i wouldnt use any type of PC webcam. The fps is not good enough. Go to walmart and pick up a decent 8mm digi cam.

you won't be happy with 30fps....and you definately need a light on the cam, for those night races.

they also have mounts so you can put it on your dashboard. i had one but it broke.

hope this helps a bit.

Yeah for some reason I thought you were looking for a camera mount.

why wouldnt you be happy with 30 FPS, thats what NTSC standard is. (actually 29.?)

The only question is, will the camera actually capture the full 30 fps

29.95 FPS. Damn near close to 30.

Anyway this is technically off topic.
