Notchback-less

Hey everyone
I just want you all to take a last look at my Formula w/an original GTA Notchback. The notchback has been removed(at night) without my permission,by pesons unknown and taken to an unknown location.
Simply put, the F@(K!NG thing's been stollen. Right under the window of my house.
I live in Brooklyn, NY and I'm pretty savy as far as "desirable items" on cars.Hell, when was a kid I stole crap of car as well as whole cars, myself.
Oh,well.I guess it's Karma. Now I got a CC camera monitoring the whole intersection, an alarm w/silent alarm and I have a hard time going to sleep early.
I wish I did these thing before. A CC camera w/monitor and a VCR are pretty affordable, now-a-days.
Hindsight IS 20/20!

Look at the bright side...it shouldnt be too hard to find again. I have yet to see a Notchback GTA, TA, Formula, or any thirdgen in the NY area. So it shouldnt be that hard to find at all. I cannot believe that somebody would steal the whole hatch...yea and sorry to say but it is true..."what comes around goes around". Sorry...and good luck finding your notchback hatch...if I end up finding one in the papers here on Long Island for sale....or any locally in part shops I will let you know. Just keep your eyes peeled for your hatch..it will eventually show up. Oh yea, are you sure it isnt like a friend playing a big joke on you? Just wondering b/c i have heard of that happening before.

I hear ya, well you know it IS Brooklyn after all. I'll keep a look out since I live off Kings Highway in the East 20's. Here is a little trick, since notchbacks are so rare, any one that you or I see, just write down the plate. Then you can have DMV run a "plate check" for like $10 or if you have cop friends have them run the plates and actually get addresses of the people who own these cars and inspect them more closely. If you find YOUR hatch then you can 1)steal it back (you apparantly have experience)2) F*** their sh** up or 3)report it to the police (however being an ex-cop, I can tell you that unless you SAW it happen they are not going to do anything about it because of lack of proof. However if you saw a plate number as they were driving away that is an entirely different story.

Thanks,guys.
I doubt I'll see it again, but you never know. Itwas a bold move though. I live in a good part of Brooklyn and the block were I park it is pretty busy with all kinds of actvity. A neighbor of mine saw two suspicious characters carying something covered with a tarp. From his vantage point he couldnt see my hatch missing so he thought nothing of it until I mentioned it to him, the next day. I imagine the thiefs had thair transport around the block. This way if anyone was looking out the window on my block couldnt ever see their plates. That's how I would do it, anyway.
In retrospect I wish I didn't have power trunk, an alarm and ofcourse under car flamethrowers. The kind that are popular in South Africa.
It sucks but life goes on.

I've heard of what an aftermarket notchback runs. That blows horribly.

Here's an idea (since I did not see it mentioned), but does GM stamp the VIN anywhere on the notchback hatch??? If so, it could be hope to find it (if you can find a guy with a notchback hatch possibly detemine a way to get a hold of the VIN off the hatch). Don't ask me HOW to check the VIN (I just have the idea, not the execution no how).

Good luck in whatever you do (to either aftermarket replacement, or standard hatch replacement).

BTW - Is your insurance set to cover that theft?

The notchback has a GM part number. Unfortunatelly they are all the same.
Thanks, though.

im just curious, how the hell did they steal it? isnt that somewhat a noisy, or un-accessable operation?
