i was out cruising with a friend of mine last night looking for some races. he drives an 85' Trans Am with the LB9/auto combo. hes got basic boltons + either a 75 or 125 shot. i was in my newly aquired 93' LT1 6speed 40th anniversary Vette. the car is 100% factory stock, right down to the paper filter and street tires. the only thing ive done to it is maintenance (like changing the plugs and all the fluids).

its been raining and snowing off and on here for the last few weeks, and both of us were a little anxious for some action. after cruising around for almost an hour with nothing willing to run either of us, we decided to line our cars up. we caught a red light, and i stalled at the green (oops, im still learning how to launch a 6speed car, plus i was on a hill... oh well). second race he got the jump on me and i caught back up at the middle of 2nd, but shut down again cause my girl said she saw cop lights (turned out to be a tow truck ).

so, since we didnt have to much luck at lights, we decided to go from a slow roll. all 3 times we raced i started from about 3000rpms in 1st gear. he would honk 3 times and we would take off. the same thing happened all 3 races: i would have a pretty good lead by the top of 3rd gear (85mph) and would shut down. how good? lets say anywhere from 5 - 6 cars .

he thinks something is wrong with his trans, and i have to agree with him. while it may not necessarily be the trans, i have seen the car go 13.1 on a good day at the track, so i know something is up with his car. opening day at Cecil is a few weeks away, and i hope to run him again there. if hes got everything fixed by then, he and i should be a close race

awesome race man..My friend has a 40th vert ruby red/auto. We used to have some nice wars when I had the firehawk. Even though it wasn't too pretty for him He's awaiting this years **** kicking from the WRX and mustang when he takes his car out.

ouch! if there is a formula for going slow in a LT1, thats it!

fortunately my car is a coupe, a 6speed, and has 3.45 gears

my friend in the T/A said it was awesome the way my front end would lift during each shift. i wanted to let my girl ride shotgun in his car and video me pulling away from him. man i would have loved to see that! maybe i can convince him to come back out tonight

go for it and try and get it on vid. Suprisingly his car is pretty quick. I've seen him hang with LS1's...just depends on who's behind the wheel and what LS1 car it is. But raping him in a 4cyl will be a good time

Well if the TA wasn't spraying the results sound accurate. Off of the spray he will be no where near his 13.1 best and will be meat to any LT1 car. I can put a few lengths on heads and cammed 305's with my stock LT1 so your results sound right on par.

well i talked to him today at work, and he WAS spraying... with the 125 shot. problem was, his bottle warmer wasnt working and he only had about 700lbs of pressure in the tank. not the best psi for racing. around 900 - 1000 would be better

also, when i say boltons, his car only has a cone filter instead of the stock airbox, a ported plenum, and a hooker catback. N/A he runs high 14s, and on the 125 shot sprayed in 1st gear he has hit the 13.1.

when i first purchased my LT1 Vette i went 13.8 at 101mph. this was my first time ever launching & racing a 6speed car. ive since tuned it up, and replaced all the fluids... not to mention gained a bit of experience behind the wheel. ive no doubt my car is capable of mid - low 13s as it sits
