Raced a Vette

One of the newer vettes tried me on the highway, I figured what the heck why not. Usually I lose to those things... but this time..

Killed it! what a difference this new torque converter/transmission make. Just by changing them it absolutelly SCREAMS down the highway now.... and this is a 2.73 geared TPI car we are talking about! Well well, I cant wait to see what it will do with a stealthram and 3.73's.

One of the newer vettes
Which one C-5, i'm guessing??? I'm betting that ur pushing some serious horsepower, or you are on boost. What kind of car do u have, those new vettes run like high 12's in the 1/4, so u must be in the 12's also, with 2.73's???? Man that's great if u are, oh well good kill though, I guess.

Ok, checked out your website, it is definitely possible, sorry if I sounded doubtful, Sweet kill man!!!!

What kind of car do you have though???

89 Camaro; If I may be so bold I beleive the 2.73s actually help out ALOT right now. Keep in mind im running TPI; no power past 4500 RPMS really... but no power before 2200RPMS (due to the cam) so my powerband is sort of limited...

Combine that with the converter which stalls to about 4000~Rpms on the highway in 3rd, and HOLDS it there, and the gears 2.73 which dont allow the car to come off the converter until about 120MPH~ because they are so high, and you have a motor that sits right in its peak VE/torque area for about the entire run down the highway (till the guy gives up or your doing sub 120~MPH)

It was pretty slick, AND he got the jump on me... I heard his downshift (automatic) when he floored it and I had to unlock the converter and downshift to 3rd real fast, but as soon as I did I started gaining on him.

This weekend Ill probably put my old cam in (234/244 @ .050) my new stealthram on, and do the gear swap (3.73)...
right now its just a ported stock TPI Intake sitting on 235~CFM @ .500 lift heads and an XE262 Cam,

im probably making close to 280RWHP if i had to guess, honestly, I know thats not "vette territory" but you have to remember something as small as a converter in the right gear combo can pull 1-2 seconds from an ET especially if the combo used to be mis matched (it was/is)

Just today I ran with an SS camaro, same thing, on the highway commute to miami from coral springs on I-75 we were doin about 75~ and this time I got the jump on him and he never caught up. Im going to get some video the next time... and BTW my site does not have all my recent upgrades, i re-did the suspension and as you know the tranny setup and changed around the exhaust... its really quiet now... I raced a turbo eclipse about 3 days ago and when we came to a stop he yells "SLEEPER!!!!" and drives off.
