350 '84 vs newer LT1 camaro
i'm going to build a 350 for my 84 soon. it will have 041 heads, a crane 278-2 cam, about 9.5:1 compression, performer intake, headers, 3" exhaust, and either a holley or edelbrock 600cfm carb. how well do you think it will do against a newer LT1 camaro or firebird?
i think somebody on here said they built a 350 with 041 heads with about the same or a little less cam and it made about 340hp. if it does make that much it should beat it.
BTW, this is assuming both hook up. i also have a 3.23 rear and th2004r trans.

IMO you would be somewhere between an LT1 and LS1. But do yourself a favor and either port those heads to flow over 230 cfm or do the vortec or AFR heads. That way 6 months later you won't be asking what heads can I use to beat an LS1. That's what I ended up doing. Built a motor that could hang with the LT1s just to get vortec heads so I could hang with the LS1s a year later. I would have save a ton of money if I would have just gone that route in the first place.

i would like better heads but i already have the 041s and don't have the money to be throwing into new heads or having them ported.
