I know a guy with a 2000 Ram Air TA. I don' know what engine he is running or what even came in those cars, but its a six speed with 4.10 gears running drag radials. Engine seams to be stock, no add ons that I can see. This is a young guy who thinks he is the s**t, told me I way stupid to put 3.73's in my car that I should go with 4.10 or better if I wanted to even be close to him at the finishline. What kind of power did these cars come with and what times could they run?

He should be running anywhere from high 12's to mid 13's, depending on a variety of factors, most of all his driving and traction. The motor is an LS1, usually dynos between 285 to 315 rwhp bone stock.

And you should match your gears to your motor and tranny. The 6-speed LS1's run very well w/ 4.10's. Mine came stock w/ 3.42's and it just doesn't seem to be enough gear for the LS1. 4.10's seem to be a great match for it though w/ the 6-speeds and 3.73's in the autos. But a TPI w/ auto is probably best w/ 3.42's, depends on the engine combo though.

BuckeyeROC hit everything right on the head. TPI motors are not high winders and do not need high ratio gears. Your friend is arrogant. Don't take that away from the fact that his car is very fast. With his mods he could be hitting high 12's without a problem.

Thanks guys. My car pulls like crazy with the 3.08's in it. I think 3.73's will be just right.

given his cockiness and lack of brains regarding gearing (your car doesn't need 4.10s or more unless he's got a high rpm powerband, which is why mustang cobras wake up big time with them and mild 350s usually end up slower with 4.10s over 3.73s) he probably only runs mid 13s if that. that car could run high 12s with the right driver.
