dangers on topping out?

ok so i have never pushed my car to go as fast as it can, what are the dangers of doing this? in the movies it shows people loosing control and spinning like crazy , is that just hollywood or do u really loose control when u top out?, im sure it depends on how fast ur car can go, but i just have never tried it and i would like to know if there are any dangers, other than going excessivly fast lol

besides:
the fact that you're going fast?
the fact that your car probly shouldnt be going that fast?
the fact that the enviroment you are driving in, isnt ment for that speed?

some things you probly arnt thinking of:

tires coming apart... if you maintain a high speed, the tires, under extreme force, can actually start to pull apart.

the car (esp if you have a quick ratio box) becomes harder to steer.. everything you do is magnified.

the slightest bump, and the car gets lighter.

but you dont have to worry about that at the speed your car tops out at.

you have a 305TBI... and they all came with 114mph speed limiters. at that speed, its like speeding on the hwy. only when you hit the limiter, it cuts fuel to the car.
the car stops accelerating.
if you have a manual and push the clutch in at that speed, it stalls.

some people argue if its a 110 or 112 or 115 mph cutout... all i can say is, with my laptop and the 3 L03 cars i drove, they all said 114 on them when it cut out.

its pretty hard to role a thirdgen they're pretty stable at high speeds. just don't try to take a turn fast.. if you're going to topout your car just make sure your tires are in good condition.

I had a friend a few years back doign a top speed run in his 12 second 5.0 stang.Unfortunately for him he met a culveret at 140. He died after about 9 hrs in the E.R his girlfriend lived but needed lots of help, and his bud in the back got lucky and was thrown from the car and got nothing but a bunch of bruises and a bad back
