funny story
well at least I think that this is funny. A few weeks ago when my maro wasn't acting up a raced a berlnetta that was supposted to have 5 grand under the hood. well the light turn green he nailed it I just started out like i normally would then put the hammer down. by the time i was getting ready to nail 3rd I was about 5 to 6 cars away from him. after that i just gave up because the light infront of me was about to change. and we have one of the stupid laws that if yu go through a yellow light you can get nailed for it. lord knows that i dont need another ticket. his reason for me beating him that night becuse I had a stick. about a week later he sees me and stops me and asks what i have under the hood. i tell him a sb that is stock. so he doesn't belive me and asks to see it. im like ok. so i pop the hood and he takes a look and trys telling me that it has a high rise intake. i tell him no it doesn't so he looks a little closer and deems that it isn't. they he asks does it have headers? I say no just stock manafolds. Then he asks what the rest of the drive train is I tell him t-5, and a v6 rear. after that he says that there should be no way that i could beat him. i tell him that i don't know why I did. So when we are done with mine I ask to see his. So i look he has a stock intake stock q-jet. stock every thing. I find out later what his 5 grand is. He paid 2500 to have the block bored .30 over and then a stock rebuild kit. then paid his cusin the other 2500 to put the engine in. the guy didn't even need to change any thing to put the 355 in. it was a v8 car to begin with. i wish some I could find someone that would pay me 2500 to put an engine in with no conversion work.

another story i just rembemered. A kid I know used to have a 84 TA. He tried telling me that it came factory with a 383 stroker and a ford 9 inch. I knew two of the people that owned it before him and i had seen under the car it had a 10 bolt. as the motor went it was just a 305 ho. if any one had put a 383 in it the eaither built a crappy motor or was really really hard on it becasue my old 70 ford 2wd 3/4 ton truck could take the car. the motor in the truck was shot and the clutch was pretty much gone also. i love people that dont know what the hell they talking about.

What they probably do is add up all the advertised hp gains on each bolton performance part and blam! "I've got 500 hp". K&N, super turbo muffler, etc. When I was young and stupid, I didn't understand why this didn't work. They build some monster motor and then put one stock component on it (air filter, intake manifold, or whatever they are selling). Then they dyno it and of course that is a major restriction and then swap out their performance part and wow, look at the gain.
