i have a '87 iroc with a 305tpi and a 5 speed. what kinds of cars can i beat? i dont wanna make a fool of myself

 

Then dont go race .......

If you dont know how to race a stick shift to begin with then your gonna make a fool of yourself no matter what you race......

 

your best bet at this point is just not to race. Your car is a nice car but not really all that quick in its stock form. There are way to many cars that could surprise you and whoop on you.

run your car at the track. see your times and then compare. alot of vtec civics can run mid high 15's. your about low 15's if good condition and such. maybe if you got real good, maybe a 14 in there somewhere but might not be likely.

14's is pretty quick but most cars out there now can do that easy. your best bet is not to race to much if you dont wanna lose, cuz its gonna happen often. LOL

 

I agree. Spend a few nights running your car at he track and compairing it to other cars. It will give you a good idea of what you stand against. Even if you run low 15's/high 14's you will still be faster than most cars on the street.

 

or find a tempo I think thats the slowest car ever made? J/K like they said already you need to learn how to race and what your car will run.

My buddy turboed his Storm and runs a 15.7 up here. There are a couple of other guys as well with hopped up Geos. The Storm is the same thing as the Isuzu Impulse with the Lotus tuned suspension, only the Impulse got the AWD and Turbo. There is a guy up here in the 13's with his Storm. Those guys embarass more people than I ever did.

 

my guess would be that he can beat more then just geo's and topaz'z.....but whatever...

 

Try and find early 90's plastic economy cars that have rust and body dents.

"posted" timeslips and dyno sheets mean nothin...i could post dyno sheets reading 700 hp....does that mean my car actually has 700 hp? no. besides, looking at the pic of you car, theres no way that gets 13.8s on stock wheels/tires what hp #'s are you putting down??

 

hey Stuart what does your Acura run stock? low 17s? With stock tires and pretty much shaving 2-3 secs off ur 1/4 time seems weird.. Man it takes alot for a POS acura like that to run 13s, maybe slicks/tires are one of the first mods you do

A sleeper is a car that looks like it coulden't possibaly be fast, yet is.
Is it so hard to beleave that Stu's car is fast? His car is a perfect example of what might suprise you on the street. I'm pretty sure he just uses a turbo and no no2.

I want to know specs. it looks like a couple local guys hondas with turbos but, they can't get out of the low 14's I would like to know what stu does that gives him the extra edge with that very similar setup

he is on honda/acura boards and i seen some of his posts. (he is a post ***** LOL). i believe it. 13.8's at over a mile high is like 12's somewhere down here. (also based on what other cars run up there, like C5 vettes in the 14's.)

i been on a honda tech browsing around and find that alot of guys are running low 13's and 12's on stock motors with big ole turbos. its possible. may not last long, but still possible. thats why stu blew his up.

 

And where he lives youd be running 15s! His car is simlarly as fast as mine, if not has the potential to be faster than mine! So you take yours, he will take his faster sleeper... Opinions mean nothing, what the car runs is something and his is faster!

 

i would rather take nick's L98 over stu's car cuz speed isnt everything.LOL

You guys are hilarious. I bet it just tears you up even more when I tell you the my best time was a 13.8 @ 106.86 mph with a 2.4 60' time. To answer your question about cost. I paid $1,000 for my car and put about $3,000 in parts under the hood, give or take a few. That must just bust your chops doesn't it? The reason my car ran the times it did, was because I was running 15 pounds of boost.

A 300 shot? Please! That's what all the sore losers say who have slower cars with inferior mods.

When my gallery is fixed, I'll post a picture of my 13.8 time slip from Club Clash with my racer number on it, then I'll take a picture of the same racer number on my fast tech sticker on my windshield, followed by my number on all the various registration sheets as well. In the mean time you can go to Bandimere.com to verify that the altitude is indeed above a mile over sea level, and finally, you can all look at the barometric pressure on the time slip and have wet dreams about being able to run times like me with that nice thick air you get to drive around in.

It's pretty funny what's going on here. No one with a fast car on here has ever talked down to me. Why? Because they know what it takes to make a fast car. It's always the pathetically slow people who cry and call B.S. to me. I have to hear all day long about how your cars are some much better, have more torque, more potential and what not, but all I see is you dreaming about what parts you want out of your dads old catalogs. In the mean time, while you're constantly updating your 'go fast' list with parts that will help you "smoke those ricers," I'm there. I'm the guy whos living your dream, racing your race, making your power, and doing it with a car with less potential and in many cases, with less the cost. I know it tears you up inside. It's quite obvious when you make a feeble attempt at making me look like a clown by calling B.S. and making up stories about nitrous. Who looks silly now? Last but not least, I see all you young bucks who are clueless and just joining the game talking about how you won't believe me until I post up pictures. I almost forgot. My quickest time stock was a 16.9 @ something like 79 mph. I had the same horrible 60's then as well. I could have gone faster if I was a better driver but not much.

 

Not only are they stock 14" steel wheels, but they are cheapo $50 street tires as well. Not to mention the totally stock suspension. What numbers do I put down? I have an idea, maybe you could look for the dyno sheets I posted.

hey lets put it this way, if i add the same amount of money/mods to my engine as STU did, i'll beat him badly... His car ran 16.9 stock with my L98 did 14.3/ 14.4 stock which is over a 2 sec diffrence.. a 5.7 will always beat a 1.8 when they both have similar mods/ same money added into the engine. What will win a 5.7 liter with 10 grand of mods in it? or a 1.8 liter with 10grand mods? The only thing that the 5.7 has is more weight, which sucks, but you have to live with that if your a V8 owner. My car can be in the high 13s with some of my mods with tires, which were STU is now. Im not makin exuses either, im just pointin out a fact. Do i care if STUs car runs 13s?Not really... But Thats good for STU cuz theres not many 1990 Acuras that run that time, i just find it funny that hes on a domestic board running his mouth all the time.. just my 2 cents
