looks like your car is a very strong running machine, just that you didnt get traction. procharged LS1's are NO JOKE. you seemed to hang for abit.
what your specs on your car?

Specs on the car. Well with the T/a, I spun thru 1st and 2nd... As soon as i cought, we hung even.
So sorry to bull**** but here are some specs....
90 Camaro, th400... A bigger engine in the 400's, somewhere around a 800 carb? A cam with close to .600 lift, and well some gears in the *** end.. Pm me if you wanna know it all...

I wouldn't let the comments get to you. The most dissrespectful posters on TGO are often found in this forum. That procharged LS1 put a hurtin' on you. Last edited by ShiftyCapone; Jul 31, 2005 at 08:08 PM.

Sorry if I upset you didn't mean too but even you have to admit that vid was a pain to look at. The only thing I could make out was you getting spanked and if it were me I think I would have edited that part out. LOL

No reason to edit it out. Everyone there seen the T/a Hooked and I didnt. I can take a loss, it doesnt matter to me because i know i can beat 3/4 of the cars out on the road... 1/4 mile are in the 11.90's if i would guess with traction. around 10.80's with the laughing gas. Nothing to fast... But i will never say no to a race...If you think 3 car lengths is gettin spanked, then I wouldnt want to see what I would do to a lil 327 like yours....

Yeah, a buddy of mine has a procharged LS1... 530 to the ground
But to put this in perspective, at the speeds found at 11.90s and 10.80s, 3 car lengths is alot, imo.
But any car that can run 11's on motor and 10s on the juice, then get driven around town is worthy of a
What kind of 60's do you cut? What is done to your suspension?

An your right! Your suppose to out run my 327, I'm building it for a daily driver not a drag car.
1/4 mile are in the 11.90's if i would guess with traction
Just think if I raced you I would go past the finish line ONE MISSISSIPPI then you! lol
An if that wasn't enough my dads 8 sec 69 nova 400ci would kill you. If that didn't do it his (UNDEFEATED) 68 camaro with 438 sbc (YES THATS RIGHT A 438 cube inch small block) would destroy you. In two street races we paid for the car over, $13,000 each race was won. SBC where its at not heavy *** BBC!
Now I already apologized for my comment earlier now get off my 327 I'm sensitive about that motor! LOL!

Hey! chev496
To show no hard feeling my dad also owns a 454 .125 over big block it was running low 9's before the motor blew well any way the steel heads are for sell. He had over $2500 port and polish work done to them. I'm pretty sure they will out perform yours $1200 if your interested. He's selling them so cheap because he needs to pay some medical bills.

Drag Car?? Who said this is a drag car.... This is a street car, full interior, hell, the spare tire is even still in there.. I could start sayin that my daddys momma's brother's cousin in law has a 6 second car, but we should all know not to go there...Nah, I wont be dissapointed. Hell, even if i have 12.50's, ill be more than happy and jus spray myself lower...Low 11's on street tires... Come on, maybe Dot's by BFG or ET Streets.... And shifty, why dont you come up here to toledo one nite and see yourself. Hell, its not that far of a ride....

Now as I said I own a street legal 10 sec car I know what it takes to get there. It means more than just having the right set of tires, a lot of drivig skill is needed also.
Hey tell me what you got into your engine, tranny and suspension. Spare nothing I mean cam specs, fuel system, head work, gear, torque arm etc...... I want to know what kind of beast you really have.

well some cars run mid lower 12's at 120mph. that speed is capable of bottom 11's or might even be a 10 second pass. traction plays a huge role. i'm in the upper high 13's at 92mph with a unknown header exhaust leak problem, on street tires. cuttin a 1.88 60 foot. who knows what it will go now with that leak fixed but it feels stronger. i have seen bottom 14's stangs at nearly 100mph but their traction suffered
and any mild built big block 454 should be pushing 400+ hp on crank and more torque. on spray thats nearly 550 with a 150 shot. thats should be good for 11's

Man this guy sound like he just likes to start stuff with everyone, shifty is by far the most fair, respected person on this board and he's still trying to start crap. We know your car is fast no one ever said it wasn't. You just need to learn how to work a camera thats all.

Im not telling you to come up here and see how slow my car is, just come up here and see the toledo street scene. Twin turbo stangs, pro charged ls1's, big block capri's, 10.90 cobras... Probly alto different than what happens down there.. Who said i had a 496?? Hell, thats my old and decrepid engine... But if you really wanna know specs, i guess ill let them out...
90 Rs
454 .060 10.5:1
66 vette heads, 2.19, 1.88 ported exhaust, port matched intake
Kb pistons, domed and Balanced rotating assembly
Comp Cam 244, 254@.050 .570, .575 lift
Victor Jr. Intake
Mighty Demon 825
Hei, Msd 6AL with MSD timing computer
1 7/8 long tubes, 3" all the way out the back, V-Force
Welded LCA, Different torque arm mount.
3.73 Auburn Pro
3/8 with Holley Red for the NOS
8AN with Holley(?) for the carb.
2 different sets of tires...
27x10 Slicks which i mostly run, and BFG Drag Radial 275/60R15
Frame tied together with my own little method..
100 shot with purge to start... Motor puts out roughly 480 HP the way it sits.
And buster... I doubt a exhuast leak is going to make you go slower. If it does, then I must be running 14 seconds to..

There is no way this car will be in low 10's... But high 10's, its a very very good possibility.

Yeah, when I upcap the headers.... But then gain, my dual 3inch all the was out the *** does sound pretty damn good. But no exhuast leak is going to decrease your power unless you damn near have the whole thing unbolted... Now if its leaking because the cat is plugged... Well then thats a different story..

yeah i was leaking out the header and it made a tremendous difference when it was fixed, i had banged my cat on something and it pulled the pipe loose from the end of the header lol.

Nice little combo you got there! Is that cam roller or hyd tappet?
What kind of tranny are you running?
Send us some pics of that engine I would like to see how you got that thing wedged in there. Also some pics of your custom suspension work.
Give me one behind and my 327 will take you in a 1/8 mile!
But you'll have to use those same tires you used against that LS1! LOL

Damn, the Vortec boy is a pretty nasty. So a 90' RS with a 467.
I would personally like to know how you welded the subframe together.. rollcage or duct tape?
Th400=old tired 3 speed truck tranny that eats horsepower,
a 4L80E would have been a better choice.
As far as a car feeling fast versus a car that is fast and feels slow. Well, lets take a little lesson in the suspension department. Which car can take a turn faster; the car that feels slow. Which car ends up in a brickwall/tree faster..... nuff said.
As far exhaust leaks they can rob horsepower depending upon where they are in the exhaust system. If it is very early in the system closer to the headers/manifolds. Yes horsepower kill. If it is a rusted pipe somewhere in the system that slows down air speed. Yes, it will kill horsepower

As far exhaust leaks they can rob horsepower depending upon where they are in the exhaust system. If it is very early in the system closer to the headers/manifolds. Yes horsepower kill. If it is a rusted pipe somewhere in the system that slows down air speed. Yes, it will kill horsepower
Duct tape is my weapon of choice, its all hacked togetha
th400 and 4l80e. Go read some books and get back to me on that one. Seems as if your not very educated in that department
Who cares about turning, I'll buy a mazda miata if i want to corner... The cam is jus a regular hyd. tappet, nothing to fance, idles right at 900 nerviously with no big deal...FOR PICTURES, LOOK IN APPEARENCE AND DETAILING AND FIND MY NAME. hAVE SOME PICTURES IN THERE, NONE OF ENGINE YET.

It looks like you both left the line pretty even. Who won the race? Did that guy in the mustang tell you how much HP he had?

if he had traction issues you could have fooled me. you both left pretty cleanly i'd say. of course there's the little bit but no traction probalems outta the ordianary that i could tell. but either way good race, and always fun to watch.
