i'm new to the board just got a 89 iroc-z that my wifes dad built up and was wondering what would a iroc-z with 400 hp @ the wheels according to the dyno with the stock 2.77 gears, 700- r4 shift kit run in the 1/4 haven't ran it yet waiting until spring

 

Before I was wondering what the car would run, I would call the guy up that "built" that car and ask to see proof of what it put down. Does it still have the stock TPI intake on it? And also, why would someone supposedly build a car to put 400hp to the ground and leave crap 2.77 gears in it? BTW, LS1's put down low 300's to the ground, and there have been stock ones that have dipped into the high 12's. So....ask for proof.

 

the car was built to run its a very fast car the reason the gears weren't changed because when my father in law built the car my wifes brother was highway driving it back and forth from his home to college and as for the guy who "built it" i know he can build a motor because he's built race motors for a living for the last 20 yrs. he has all the paperwork to whats been done to the car i myself don't know all the details but i will get it this weekend and then will list all thats been done i was just asking what would a car with this power and gears run

a 355 with 400whp must have some major work done. 2.77 gears arent all that crappy with the 700r4 but the power band that the motor will want, it will like deeper gears and a higher stall.


definately find out
