Question for ya...
How fast should a box stock 88 LB9 IROC be? Both in terms of 1/4 mile and top speed. Assume a box stock LB9. T5, the 3.45 posi 9-bolt, and 16 inch wheels. Please tell me it's faster than 15.5 in the quarter.
Thanks.
Thanks.

well normally I would be a jerk and tell you to do a search, but i'll insert my comments anyway. I would say the average car you described above should run somewhere between 14.8-15.20, if you get a factory freak maybe 14.60 but I doubt any better than that with no mods.

My car factory stock ran a 15.7-15.2.
But you have a 5spd
My top speed used to be 145mph with the factory 2.73's.

depends on the state of tune, the condition of your exhaust,, how much carbon etc.
Umm, Stock, without advancing timing, with a perfectly intact stock exhaust, good clutch and stock tires.. All that other crap, if you can drive... 15-14.5...
If you tune it to hell, maybe a few tenths faster..
An exhaust/headers could put the car into the low 14's if not high 13's.. Depends on the car really.. but yes faster than 15.5.. You should be a 14 second car.

Thanks guys. The reason I was asking is because some know it all jerkoff on another board was telling me that our cars are slow, and then he cites some source as saying the 88 IROC was only good for a 15.5 quarter in stock form. I was thinking yeah, maybe, if it had the automatic and the 2.73 rear end. But these "sources" always seem to neglect the impact of the factory available high performance options like the 3.45 rear end, etc.
The 145 top speed agrees with the old Road and Track test done when these cars were new. These idjits don't seem to believe that speed is possible with our cars.
I had mine up to 135 and it was still accelerating, but I chickened out.
Thanks guys.
