Walking the walk..

Sounds like a freak accident, no way i should have won...

Heres the scoop. I was getting some gas at the local shell when this beautiful thirdgen z28 rolls up. Black paint job with some 17in torque thrus II's. Nice choppy cam and whatnot. The guy looks at me and says nice rock and i told him the same. I pop the hood on his car and it looks bone stock. I asked him if he rebuilt the motor and put a different cam in and he said no, its a stock 305. Well, im not stupid and asked him what he had, and he kept insisting it was a stock 305, well i said, your going to make me find out the hard way. So we roll on down to the old route highway (no one ever drives on it), and we decide to run. I get stuck running from 35mph, right where my tpi curve is a total waste. We both hit it and i start pulling on him a little bit, then he catches up, i shift, bouncing back in forth up to about 100mph. We ran 2 or 3 times with the same outcome, and we did a full loop back to the gas station. So I said, what do you have in there. He said its a 406 and hes has never been kept up with. He asked what mine had, i told him it was stock and he almost **** a brick. I don't know if he has a mismatched combination of parts, a wayy to big cam, or what, but it made me feel good that my old roc kept up with his pristine maro. Maybe it was just a 305 with a big cam, the world may never know.

Good run but like you said he either had a combo that was not dialed in and or just a 305 with a cam (most likely also not dialed in). Chances are a little chip work is all he lacks from unleashing the power he is missing.

well he was running a carb, so i say ditch the q-jet.

Performer intake a 650dp would solve that problem.

I got his phone number and ill call him up if he ever needs some help getting some real power out of it. Nothing like sweet thirdgens. Were gonna head up to rod run in pigeon forge, tn this spring. should be fun.
