Well there is this kid at my school that his dad just bought him a 1996 z28. Well all he does is run his mouth about how fast his car is. And im just wondering what is it gonna take to beat a stock lt1 with a 305 tpi. (auto)

You will never know until you run the car. his lt1 may not run that well and your car may be on the money. there are a lot of variables. but i would say you have a pretty solid as well as fresh motor to run his stock lt1 with god knows how much abuse. Give it a go and let us know.

 

depends if the kid can drive. lt1s are quick if driven very well if not itll be all tire spin. if hes good youll lose by a good amount id say

The car runs ok I guess I have seen better.It also has completely bald tires on the back.

 

Is his car a manual? If so, it sounds like he is a little tool so hope he can't launch it. Bald tires wont help him any. You seem to have quite a few mods on there, I have a feeling your car runs pretty well. Make sure you nail the launch and hope for the best

whats it run at the track? i will say the LT1 SHOULD win, but on the street with street tires a bus can beat a ferrari. just the nature of the beast. even if you win, it doesnt necessarily mean you have a faster car....

I dont know what the car runs now. I ran 15 flat last year with stock everything except a k&n (stock 2.73 gears.)

 

Run from the stop, drag radials and 3.73's should rape inexperience and bald tires. I would think you could touch a 14.5 w/ a real good 60', which you should be able to nail. The only thing your combo lacks is a good converter. Even w/o that, I'm sure you're holeshot would be strong enough to hold of the LT1, which might have more top end, but would be making up a bit of time just to catch you.

I defintely wouldn't go w/ that idea, 25mph w/ 3.73's and the 700r4 is gonna put you dead bottom of second, and w/ a stock converter and a 305, thats gonna be weak. If its gotta be from a roll, it better be less than 15mph, or great than 40mph with those gears.

 

What does a stock lt1 run? I have heard 14.6 but i dont know.

I also am having a 100 shot installed. What should I do.

Should i take my chances of getting beat strait up or should I run the 100 shot. I really have no Idea what I would run with that.

If a car could run 14.5 and you add a 100 shot what would that bring it to?

 

Race from a dig, with the 100 shot you should be completely covered. Don't tell him you sprayed though or you'll never hear the end of it. The LT1 cars can be well into the 13's stock and respond well to mods, or they can be 15 second dogs (his is probably the latter considering bald tires, that usually points to poor maintenance). With a 100 shot you should shave a little over 1 second off spraying a few feet out in first, a little more if you can spray out of the hole. This will put you right at where the best of the stock LT1's should be and keep you insured against a loss.

 

Your car ran 15 flat from the factory maybe a little quicker since it's a 91 with mods you have you should be right on the money with the LT1 it's worth a shot if you lose the first time use the bottle the second time just keep it close so he doesn't think you have the bottle. My 85 iroc with the 305 TPI ran 15 flat from the factory and with my 355 is good for high to mid 13's. Give it a shot and let us know.

 

just run him and give em hell.. if you lose, you lose.. you cant win them ALL.. but you can win MOST.. i have absolutely no idea what a stock LT1 will run.. no one on maui runs one.. its all old school or bolt-on LS1..
