Chalk Up 1 More For The '85 Z28!
ok, so today was a nice day in Ohio, we actuall hit 45 and the roads were clear so I decided to take the Z out. Well, I'm crusing down one of our main streets in town and get spotted by a 2003 SVT Cobra. i think to myself "YES! Mustang! I hate those ****ers!". so we get side by side at a light and i let the car idle, he starts revving his **** and yelling out the window saying camaros are gay and this and that. so the light turns green and i stomp it. i pulled about 2 cars in first, then another 4 in 2nd and 3rd. by the end i was about 5 cars out, and still in 3rd. didnt even need 4th. so we got to the next light and i asked him if his car was a v6. he says "no, cant you see the SVT badge?". i said yeah but it runs like a v6. haha one more for the Z. ill post my other 2 kills from today later.

Are you sure it was an '03 and not an earlier 1999 or 2001 Cobra? As the earlier ones weren't supercharged. Those latter Cobras are crazy fast.
If it was an '03, Nice kill. As stated before, they didn't get the name Terminator for nothing.

I don't believe that. Sure it wasn't a 2004 Cobra? Or an earlier year? And why would you need 4th, it's OD

Are you sure he was racing and that it was definitely an '03? I see you have a 355(which doesn't mean much), he should have made it a race.

yes, it was a 2003 mustang cobra. white. i saw the guy out tonite, didnt have cash to put gas in the Z so i rolled around in my buddy's LS1. he said he wants to run me again after he gets a smaller puller, CAI, injectors and a tune. from what you guys are sayin i may need to actually turn my bottle on for this one.
and fly89gta yes i have a 355, but ill just stick with what you say, it dont mean much

FYI a pullied exhausted cai tuned car is usually good for 450 to 500 rwhp. So dont be surprised if that little upgrade he does makes a HUGE difference.

What I meant was you don't have any mods listed in your sig, all we know is that you have is a 355..which again doesn't mean much Some people around here do a stock rebuild on their L98 and brag that they have a 355 when it's still a stockish motor. What's done to the motor or is that top secret info?

Re: Chalk Up 1 More For The '85 Z28!
and im not done yet!
also, i broke down and took it out today. scared the **** out of me!
i went out to a 4 lane road out of the way, no traffic whatsoever. so i thought, hmmmm, time to test out my nitrous system. well, i got going and armed the system, then nailed the buttom at the bottom of 3rd. IT FLEW! I didnt lose traction and i was feelin pretty good, so i stopped, launched the car like normal, and nailed the button again, this time right after my 1-2 shift. the car broke loose for a second, the caught and scooted. i then cruised around for about 20 mins, looking to see if anyone was out, and spotted a red honda del sol. i hate those damn cars. they're so fugly. so we get side by side at a light, and i realize i know the passenger. he asks if i will do a 35mph roll race with the sol. it was a b16 all motor build with v-tec. i said sure, so i launched the car, got out of it at, 25, and by the time th rpms went down i was exactly at 35, top of 1st. he honked 3 times and i let him get out 2 cars, then i laid into it. he also had nitrous, and i saw his car start pulling back up with me(i had by this time passed him). so i shifted into 3rd, kept it hammered, and i still was in front by the time we got to our designated finish line. w00t!!1!

Re: Chalk Up 1 More For The '85 Z28!
How much power do you estimate you are putting down? What track times are you currently running?
Those Stangs PULL on the top end. They are easy low 13's to high 12's right out of the box and trapping at about 109mph.
Also what Edelbrock dual plane are you running in your car? Most of them run out of air-flow above 5500 rpm (had one on my camaro). Also what is your cam? Are you running a higher rpm converter? I bet the tires hooked you up good on the launch!
Sorry for all the questions my friend, just interested is all.

Re: Chalk Up 1 More For The '85 Z28!
i have no idea on my power numbers or track times, since the tracks were closed when i got the car done and brought it out. im running an Edelbrock Endurashine Performer RPM Dual-Plane manifold, which tops out at around 6500-7000rpms. I have a custom grind cam from COMP Cams, and a 3500 stall converter from TCI. The racing was done on Mickey Thompson ET Streets(325/50/15) using JEGS Sportstar Wheels, a knockoff of the WELD Prostar. I'm going to be selling them soon though, and getting some new Greg Weld Wheels Dragstars.

Re: Chalk Up 1 More For The '85 Z28!
There is a bit of misinformation in this thread. The 99/01 Cobra did not look like the 03/04 Cobra. They had different front and rear bumbers, hood, side skirts, and rims. The normally dyno in the 380-390 range stock and an ok driver and do high to mid 12s all day long in one. They are tricky to launch though do to the IRS so thats why you will see them in the 13s sometimes.

I don't understand why guys hate on the whole Ford thing. Those Cobra's could make moderate small block chevy builds look like rice cookers
I have a few friends from J&P Performance that run every year Stang you could think of. From N/A to radical Turbo/SC setups. All street cars. Awesome bunch of guys that wouldn't hesitate to help me out even though I own a Camaro. Us gearheads need to stick together with all these laws popping out every year.
Roadblock, your car sounds pretty mean dude. Too bad you live way down there or I'd ask yah to get some runs in with me one day

you can't compare a SC mod motor to a NA sbc build. if you want to compare apples to apples, compare it to an ls1 or ls2 with a supercharger.
