i was heading home when i ran into an 06/07 gti. my car is an 87 iroc with a 350 tpi but it was originally a 305 5 speed tpi (i think, it's got the shift light on dash next the check engine light). its only got headers and flowmaster exhaust. everything else is stock including the ypipe and crappy 2.73 geared open rear. not sure if the gti was stock or not. anyway. from a dig, i took it by about a car. my car shifted into 2nd way too fast (3800 - 4000) so he pulled a tad bit right to my door. then we let off. raced again this time i kept it in 1st til 52xx is or so and pulled on him by about a car and a half til 110 when we let off. third time i don't know if maybe i spun too much he hooked better or both but i only got him by half a car and then he pulled on me by about a car and a half or so. last race was from a roll and it was dead even. i gotta say i was pretty disappointed. i know those cars run high 14's, and i do have an open rear with 2.73 gears but i do have headers and flowmaster exhaust. i know if i put better tires and some 3.73's it'll make abig difference but i thought it would have done better. should i be ddisappointed?

those cars run high 14z and a good running l98 will run mid to high 14z.
